About Ken - Shorter Version
1983 Started freelancing part time as a commercial illustrator, Victoria BC.
1985 Created Artech Graphics Ltd. and became a full time illustrator, Victoria BC.
1987 Moved to Vancouver to continue as a freelance illustrator.
1989 Started a part-time career as a fine artist working en plein air in oils.
1990 Co-created "The 2 1/2" with painters Andrew Wooldridge and Marie Stevens.
1991 Started gallery exhibitions with the other members of The 2 1/2.
1992 Moved back to Victoria BC and continue painting, exhibiting and freelancing.

About Ken - Longer Version
1964, in Victoria BC Canada… that’s where it all started for me, and by the age of 2, I was already working towards my career as a visual artist.
At the age of 16, I found myself picking up the odd illustration job. By 1984, I took on the role of ‘professional freelance illustrator’, working in Victoria for a couple years, then moving to Vancouver and continuing my freelance adventure.
In 1989, I added ‘plein air painter’ to the mix and started exhibiting in galleries the next year. Along with a number of other painters, Canada’s Group of Seven was a huge influence in my early years of plein air painting.
From my first time painting outdoors, I loved both the experience and process. I continue paint ‘en plein air’ to this day.
In 1991, I started exhibiting my work regularly as a professional painter.
At the end of 1992, after almost 7 years in Vancouver, I moved back to Victoria to continue painting and illustrating.
In January 2018, I joined the Federation of Canadian Artists. The next month, I applied for my SFCA (Senior Member). I was awarded that in March 2018.
In October 2021, I joined the ‘Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour’. I then applied to be an ‘Elected Member’ in November 2021, and was awarded that in January, 2022.
All these years later, I’m still at it. I do less commercial work these days, spend more time painting and have gallery representation for my work in Victoria BC, Edmonton AB, and Toronto ON.
