In 2010 Example took the UK charts by storm with two Top 10 smash hit singles, 'Won't Go Quietly' and 'Kickstarts' - which both achieved silver sales – while his anthem-packed album 'Won't Go Quietly' was certified gold. Having played a packed festival schedule, the BBC Radio 1 Student Tour and his own sold out 14-date headline UK tour, he finished off the year by releasing 'Two Lives', featuring on Professor Green’s hit ‘Monster’ and hitting the road again as the main support act for dance music legends Faithless' winter tour.
All these successes contributed to Example becoming THE breakthrough act of 2010; but as the saying goes, there's no rest for the wicked, and 2011 has become Example's biggest and best year yet. In January he released a free download of a recent collaboration with Skream, 'Shot Yourself In The Foot Again', which went A-list on Radio 1, topped the Hype Machine chart and had over 40,000 downloads. The video was created and co-directed by Example himself and received over 1 million views in less than a month. Meanwhile his collaboration with label-mate Wretch 32, 'Unorthodox' was a smash hit, reaching #2 in the Official UK Singles Chart in April 2011.
2011 also saw Example sitting at the top of the UK charts with a No.1 certified platinum album ‘Playing in the Shadows’ and two consecutive No.1 singles, ‘Changed the Way You Kiss Me’ and ‘Stay Awake’. Produced by Ministry of Sound club resident Michael Woods, 'Changed The Way You Kiss Me', smashed straight into the top of the charts, stayed at #1 for 2 consecutive weeks and has sold well over 350,000 copies to date. A few months later, following a packed festival and gig summer schedule, Example dropped his second single, 'Stay Awake', which hit the #1 spot in the UK Official Top 40 on 4th September. And a week later, his third album ‘Playing In The Shadows’ also went straight to #1!
2012 saw Example going from strength to strength, and got off to a flying start with a European tour in February/March 2012 followed straight away by a sold-out UK arena tour. Always on the road, playing a plethora of festivals across the UK and Europe, Example has spent the last few months recording new tracks all over the world and working with a wide range of producers.
Following his feature on Calvin Harris’ #2 hit ‘We’ll Be Coming Back’, Example released his fourth studio album, ‘The Evolution Of Man’, on 18th November 2012. The first single, ‘Say Nothing’, received its world exclusive play on the Capital FM Breakfast show on 30th July and the stunning official video, shot in the Spanish desert, amassed an incredible 60,000 views in its first 24 hours on YouTube!
